O maior banco dos Estados Unidos, JPMorgan Chase <\/strong>(NYSE<\/a>: JPM), anunciou nesta quinta-feira (8) planos para destinar US$ 30 bilh\u00f5es em empr\u00e9stimos e investimentos para ajudar a promover a igualdade racial no pa\u00eds.<\/p>\t

O JPMorgan pretende desembolsar US$ 14 bilh\u00f5es para o financiamento de 100 mil unidades habitacionais, assim como US$ 8 bilh\u00f5es para hipotecas de fam\u00edlias negras e latinas<\/strong>, com o objetivo de oferecer maior acessibilidade a moradias.<\/p>\n

O banco norte-americano originou US$ 4,2 bilh\u00f5es dessa modalidade de empr\u00e9stimo em 2019, segundo dados do governo dos Estados Unidos. De acordo com uma porta-voz do grupo financeiro, no entanto, os US$ 8 bilh\u00f5es superam os empr\u00e9stimos normalmente concedidos.<\/p>\n

\u201cPodemos fazer mais e melhor para romper os sistemas que propagaram o racismo e a desigualdade econ\u00f4mica generalizada, especialmente para negros e latinos\u201d, afirmou o diretor executivo da JPMorgan, Jamie Dimon, em comunicado. \u201cJ\u00e1 passou da hora de a sociedade lidar com as desigualdades raciais de uma forma mais tang\u00edvel e significativa.\u201d<\/p>\n

As mudan\u00e7as acontecem ap\u00f3s a onda de protestos nos Estados Unidos contra o racismo por causa da morte de George Floyd, um homem negro torturado em via p\u00fablica por policiais brancos.<\/p>\n

Nesse sentido, o JPMorgan e outros grandes bancos norte-americanos foram pressionados a ajudar a mitigar as desigualdades econ\u00f4micas baseadas na etnia que o setor banc\u00e1rio ajudou a construir. Dessa forma, al\u00e9m do JPMorgan, o Goldman Sachs e o Wells Fargo tamb\u00e9m prometeram melhorar a diversidade entre suas pr\u00f3prias fileiras.<\/p>\n
