A Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), equivalente nos Estados Unidos ao Fundo Garantidor de Cr\u00e9dito (FGC) no Brasil, aceitou a oferta do banco norte-americano JPMorgan Chase<\/a> para comprar o First Republic Bank<\/strong>, que foi fechado nesta segunda-feira, 1\u00ba de maio, pelo Departamento de Prote\u00e7\u00e3o Financeira e Inova\u00e7\u00e3o da Calif\u00f3rnia.<\/p>\t

Segundo a FDIC, o \u00f3rg\u00e3o est\u00e1 firmando um contrato de compra com o JPMorgan Chase Bank para assumir todos os dep\u00f3sitos e substancialmente todos os ativos do First Republic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

No \u00faltimo 13 de abril, o First Republic Bank tinha aproximadamente US$ 229,1 bilh\u00f5es em ativos totais e US$ 103,9 bilh\u00f5es em dep\u00f3sitos totais.<\/p>\n\t

“A FDIC estima que o custo para o Fundo de Seguro de Dep\u00f3sito ser\u00e1 de cerca de US$ 13 bilh\u00f5es. Esta \u00e9 uma estimativa e o custo final ser\u00e1 determinado quando o FDIC encerrar a administra\u00e7\u00e3o judicial”, indicou o \u00f3rg\u00e3o regulador norte-americano.<\/p>\n

Como parte da transa\u00e7\u00e3o, os 84 escrit\u00f3rios do First Republic Bank<\/strong> em oito Estados ser\u00e3o reabertos como ag\u00eancias do JPMorgan Chase Bank.<\/p>\n

Todos os depositantes do First Republic Bank se tornar\u00e3o depositantes do JPMorgan Chase Bank<\/strong> e ter\u00e3o acesso total a todos os seus dep\u00f3sitos.<\/p>\n

O que aconteceu com o First Republic Bank?<\/h2>\n

De acordo com relat\u00f3rio trimestral do First Republic Bank, se registrou a fuga de aproximadamente US$ 100 bilh\u00f5es em dep\u00f3sitos no primeiro trimestre de 2023, diante de uma das maiores crises banc\u00e1rias desde 2008.<\/p>\n

O First Republic Bank disse que est\u00e1 avaliando op\u00e7\u00f5es estrat\u00e9gicas para que o problema possa ser solucionado.<\/p>\n

O \u00edndice Banc\u00e1rio Regional KBW chegou a registrar o menor n\u00edvel no intervalo de dois anos, a 1,5%. Nesse contexto, a fal\u00eancia de bancos como SVB<\/strong><\/a>, Signature Bank<\/strong> e Silvergate <\/strong>aumentou a desconfian\u00e7a de investidores em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao setor banc\u00e1rio em 2023.<\/p>\n

Para acalmar os investidores, o presidente do Fed<\/a> e a secret\u00e1ria do Tesouro dos EUA, Janet Yellen, afirmaram que ir\u00e3o dar apoio ao sistema banc\u00e1rio do pa\u00eds, e que os investidores n\u00e3o devem ficar em p\u00e2nico.<\/p>\n

Ainda no 1\u00ba trimestre de 2033 (1T23), o First Republic Bank fez um empr\u00e9stimo de US$ 92 milh\u00f5es, cujos recursos vieram do Fed e de grupos de empr\u00e9stimos.<\/p>\n

Al\u00e9m disso, em mar\u00e7o de 2023, o First Republic Bank<\/strong> recebeu US$ 30 bilh\u00f5es na forma de ajuda tempor\u00e1ria, que veio de grandes bancos dos EUA, como o JP Morgan Chase<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\t
